THE REFUGE

At first I isolate
then stagnate,
I restlessly judge
and fight my fate.
After much swirling,
doing, doing and doing,
slowly, I remember
my particular way,
to begin ungluing.
Today I dwell
in the refuge.
I let the tears clear
all that has steeped,
to return to me,
down in, and deep.

SHADOW

Through darkness
I see a reflection
in the clouds
a dark shadow
reveals my light
the closer I step
the bigger it gets
until we merge into
one.

TAKE THE MEDICINE

where are you? how can I find you?
running
chasing
desperately…
spinning out, speeding up
the tether to the body
tightens, dries and thins
a cork stopper plugs the aperture
blocking the portal to freedom
and pleasure
not letting life in
searching out there
pressured to find the answers
and then from the grace of life itself
or the bundled strength of the soul’s homesickness
comes a wave of remembrance
slow down
feel the confused mess
collapse
free fall
disorganize
throw the deck of cards in the air
let them fall where they may
they’ll land
in a new way
reordered to sacred perfection
pour all the calls
for homecoming
into a huge stock pot
simmer it down to a soup
that's nice and hot
take the medicine
weave it all in
the grief
the loss
the disconnect
the sacred disembodiment
landing home
once again...
a breath of relief
a heart’s softening sob
the search for purpose,
mission and vision
becomes acutely clear
simply a palpable rhythm
this dance is for you, dear soul.
